Comprehensive Eye Examinations:
An annual examination allows us to check the health of your eyes and to look for any changes.
Even if you believe you have great vision, an annual eye examination is just as important as a routine physical. Your eye examination consists of a number of tests not only to evaluate the prescription but also to assess the health of your eyes. Our office provides comprehensive exams for vision and eye health that include cataract and glaucoma screenings, as well as tests of visual function.
Glaucoma Testing:
As part of your comprehensive eye exam, we will perform a test to check for glaucoma, a disease that can damage the optic nerve and lead to blindness. Glaucoma usually develops without symptoms so you don’t usually realize that you have it. Early diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma can help preserve your eyesight.
Cataract Testing:
Cataracts can be diagnosed through a comprehensive eye examination. This examination may include:
- Patient history to determine vision difficulties experienced by the patient.
- Visual acuity measurement to determine to what extent a cataract may be limiting clear vision.
- Refraction to determine the need for changes in an eyeglass or contact lens prescription.
- Evaluation of the lens to determine the extent and location of any cataracts.
- Evaluation of the retina of the eye through a dilated pupil.
- Measurement of pressure within the eye.
If diagnosis of cataracts occurs we will appropriately refer you to a specialist when necessary.
Contacts Lens Fitting:
We will provide the necessary measurements to your cornea to achieve the best contact lens fit possible as well as discuss your contact lens options. Our specialists are aware of the latest lens technology and lens options that are right for you. You will receive a free pair of trial lens along with a complimentary bottle of contact lens cleaner and case. The contact lens fitting also includes any follow-up visits that may be needed.
